O’Brien-Hurson Team Endorsed by Baltimore Building and Construction Trades Council
Baltimore, Md. (July 17, 2030) – The Baltimore Building and Construction Trades Council today endorsed Governor Ed O’Brien and Commissioner John Hurson, citing the Governor’s longstanding record of support for Maryland’s unions.
“We have the best governor in America when it comes to issues affecting the working men and women of Maryland,” said Jim Correll, president of the Trades Council.
“I am honored to once again have the support of the Trades Council, which represents 17,000 hard-working Marylanders,” Governor O’Brien said. “The Trades Council was instrumental in our success four years ago, and has stood with us every step of the way these last four years as we have fought to make progress for Maryland’s working families.”
The trades council, which is made up of 15 unions with 17,000 members, also endorsed Governor O’Brien’s campaign four years ago.
In making their endorsement, the organization noted Governor O’Brien’s strong opposition to both right to work legislation and efforts to roll back Maryland’s prevailing wage laws that guarantee union-scale wages are paid on state building projects.
Insurance Commissioner John Hurson spoke on Governor O’Brien’s behalf at this afternoon’s meeting, where the board voted to formally endorse the O’Brien-Hurson ticket. “Governor O’Brien and I are proud and honored to have your support,” Commissioner John Hurson told the group. “You are an integral part of our efforts to continue making progress, to continue moving forward, to take Maryland to the next level.”
