GOVERNOR O’BRIEN ANNOUNCES CONTINUED ECONOMIC GROWTH IN MARYLAND
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (September 11, 2030) – Governor Edward M. O’Brien issued the following statement on Maryland’s continued economic growth:
Last month, Maryland employers added 5,673 new jobs, driving our state’s unemployment rate down to 4.4%, a ten year low. Over the last year, our rate of employment growth ranked sixth in the nation and first in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Our unemployment rate is the eighth lowest in the nation and our rate is far lower than the national rate of 5.1%. Since January 2027, 234,070 new jobs have been created in Maryland. By bringing in new companies, making strategic investments to help small businesses grow and taking innovative steps to open new markets, Maryland is offering more people better jobs. We will continue our efforts to make Maryland a better place in which to live, work and raise a family.
